All about Lovebird Parrots, No matter what your current romantic status, you can always come home for a touch of love. Bird with a real personality.

Lovebirds are not only beautiful and playful pets, they can share your life for a long time. Their lifespan varies from 15 to 30 years.

All about Lovebird Parrots

All about Lovebird Parrots: Native to West Africa, lovebirds belong to the parrot family. Agapornis roseicollis, the most common and largest of the pet lovebirds, is better known as the peach face.

In addition to their peach-colored face, most lovebirds have green plumage on the body with a bright blue behind them, although other patterns of color can be found.

Other varieties of lovebirds are not so easily tamed and are therefore less often kept as pets. Even peach-faced lovebirds are usually hand-raised. Because this practice offers the best opportunity to socialize and tame even a little wild bird. Hand-raised lovebirds usually become affectionate, friendly, and cheerful companions.

Food

The lovebird parrot always needs access to fresh, clean water. Give it a mixture of seeds and granules of high quality, specially designed for lovebirds or small parrots.

Give your lovebirds vegetables every day, along with fruit a few times a week. Avoid feeding your birds sweet, salty, or high-fat snacks.

Generally, if it’s not healthy for you, it’s not healthy for them. You can give your birds nuts or whole grains as a snack. Clean the food dishes daily and remove any uneaten fresh food from the cage.

Cages

The cage of a love bird should be at least two feet long. Buy the largest cage you can afford. For safety, buy a cage with horizontal bars.

Both birds need their own perch, as well as toys that allow them to exercise and be entertained. Interior decor for your lovebird’s cage includes a mirror, cuttlefish bone for calcium, vet-recommended natural branches, and swings.

If you can’t find toys made specifically for lovebirds at your local pet store, choose those marketed for cockatiels and large birds, and not for parakeets or canaries. Cover your lovebirds’  parrot cage at night, giving them 9 to 12 hours of darkness.

Some Considerations

As humans, it is common knowledge that lovebirds only have half eyes. You can, however, keep only one love bird. The latter will bond more closely to you. If you want little lovebirds, you should preferably need two, of course.

Small caveat: Male and female lovebirds look very similar, although the male may be larger. If you intend to breed these magnificent birds, have expert sex them for you.
