Yellow-throated Hanging-Parrot 12 cm. Green, more yellowish below; orange bill; large orange-yellow patch on throat; can have a very faint orange band on nape; rump and upper tail-coverts red; legs pale orange.
Forms a species group with L. exilis and L. flosculus. Monotypic.

Java and Bali.
Habitat
Lowland swamp forest, montane forest, more open areas with Casuarina trees, up to 1850 m.
Movement
No certain information but considered probably nomadic.
Diet and Foraging
Observed feeding in flowering Erythrina trees, in Ficus, and at Cassia siamea flowers.
Sounds and Vocal Behavior
Flight call a high-pitched tinkling double note, e.g. “tsee!-tsik”, with emphasis on the first note. Other calls mainly comprise combinations of short staccato high-pitched “tsee” or “tsik” notes.
Breeding
Apr-May. Yellow-throated Hanging-Parrot Nest in a hollow in a tree, often a palm trunk or an old barbet hole; once in the top of tree-fern at the edge of primary forest. Eggs 2.
Conservation Status
Not globally threatened. CITES II. Currently considered near-threatened. Considered generally uncommon throughout the range in both Java and Bali.
